OxyJun

Also known as: E-OJ-01, Oxyjun, Terminalia arjuna extract, Arjuna bark extract

Effective Dosage

400 mg daily based on available study data

What the Science Says

OxyJun is a proprietary extract of Terminalia arjuna, a tree bark used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries to support heart health. One randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial found that 400 mg daily for 8 weeks improved left ventricular ejection fraction (a measure of how well the heart pumps blood) by about 6% in healthy adults, compared to nearly no change in the placebo group. The same study also reported reductions in fatigue scores and a marker of heart workload, with no significant safety concerns observed.

What It Doesn't Do

Not proven to treat or prevent heart disease — the one study was in healthy adults, not patients with cardiac conditions. No evidence it replaces prescribed heart medications. Don't expect dramatic energy or athletic performance gains based on current data. The fatigue reduction seen was modest and comes from a single small study. Not proven to lower blood pressure or cholesterol in a clinically meaningful way.

Evidence-Based Benefits

OxyJun is derived from Juniperus communis and is marketed primarily for weight loss. However, there is only one clinical trial available, which limits the ability to draw strong conclusions about its efficacy.

Absorption & Bioavailability

Unknown — no pharmacokinetic or absorption data provided in available studies.

Red Flags to Watch For

  • Only one published clinical trial exists for this specific branded ingredient — far too little evidence to draw firm conclusions
  • The single study was conducted in healthy adults aged 30–70, so results may not apply to people with existing heart conditions or other health issues
  • 687 supplement products contain this ingredient despite minimal published research — widespread use does not equal proven efficacy
  • Anyone with a heart condition should consult a cardiologist before using this ingredient, as self-treating cardiac symptoms is dangerous
  • The study was likely industry-funded (proprietary ingredient); independent replication has not been published
